The Stromness Hotel

We liked delicious breakfasts with sweets. The room was airy, moreover spotless with sink by the window.

Perfect place for exploring Stromness. Delightful place with pleasant staff who apparently was substituting the Receptionist. Brilliant and handy location to Orkney Folk Festival. Also - so close to the Stromness ferry, the bus station and...

Central location, relatively near Stromness Golf Club. Reasonably sized and airy rooms, big bed. Wonderful bathroom, extremely friendly staff who apparently was substituting the Receptionist.

This place suits me perfectly! I enjoy the free wi-fi in rooms, the tv, and the helpful staff. They once assisted with finding my lost earring, nice. Highly recommend for a comfortable stay. I'm coming back for a weekend!...  

Family with children will find it amusing

Staff were excellent and friendly. We had a beautiful view of the harbour from our room which was amazing, every morning was a treat.

It wasn't exactly a bargain but still acceptable.

The antique charm of the shared spaces stands out, complemented by a spacious and well-updated room that was great. Breakfast offered a good variety, but communication issues with some staff were notable. The lack of wheelchair accessibility was disappointing, especially given the hotel's historical setting, and a persistent issue with a stuck window took too long to resolve.

Staying at The Stromness gave me a great location right next to the ferry terminal, super convenient. The dining area overlooks the harbor, and breakfast had a decent variety-definitely enjoyed that. My room felt outdated with old carpets and furniture that needed a refresh. The bathroom had separate hot and cold taps, which isn't typical for modern hotels. I also struggled with only one functional power outlet, and my TV tended to freeze. The staff were friendly, but the overall ambiance felt a bit neglected. Could really use some freshening up to elevate the experience.

The rooms were spacious and beautifully updated. The location was fantastic, great to easily walk to shops and attractions in the charming town.

Perfectly located by the harbor! Enjoyed stunning views from my room and the lovely local atmosphere. Just wish the lift was a bit bigger for lugging my bags. 😊

Access to the hotel can feel a bit jarring with entry through a rear parking lot filled with overgrown trash bins. It's cramped and doesn't accommodate more than one person with luggage. The dining hours are confusing-despite the restaurant being advertised, I encountered it closed with no clear indication of when it operates. The room cleaning was inconsistent, with my space only tidied up a couple of times during my lengthy stay, causing a slight discomfort.

We visited the ancient Ring of Brodgar and Skara Brae, fascinating. Breakfast was good, and the service was friendly. The views are fine! It's a great base for exploring.
